Water Spilling Over the Edge of Your Forgotten Tub Damages More than the Bathroom Carpet in Your Oxnard Home

Accidents happen most often in either the bathroom or the kitchen, and these include incidents without injuries. Those involving water can lead to someone slipping on a wet floor or getting shocked by a wet styling tool. When water gets displaced in your Oxnard home and ends up in the wrong place, it can harm your home's structure.

When a sink or tub overflows onto the floor of your house in Oxnard, water damage can start spreading from the area before you have a chance to turn off the faucet. SERVPRO's certified Water Damage Restoration Technicians (WRT) understand the crucial importance of mitigating the area. The condition of the rest of your home depends on a skilled and competent mitigation team.

Training for Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) takes time but doing so means we can give our customers the quickest possible response when it matters the most. Water damage never takes a break in spreading to new areas of your home. It damages ever-larger portions of your property through both the condensation of water vapor onto other materials and the water gradually seeping farther away from the initial location of the invasive water.

More than your carpet gets wet when things like this happen. The floor below the carpet also gets soaked. Because of water's nature, it can also end up underneath the tub or sink's cabinet. Able to slowly leak downward from here, it can end up inside walls, corroding electrical components, compacting insulation, and starting microbial infestations.

Clipping the end of the carpet to an air mover in a large bathroom can help get small spills dried out, but rolling up while air drying a smaller carpet by taking it outside to dry there in the sunshine can also kill any microbes that might exist. The floor below requires treatment, so it dries as quickly as possible, too. Below the tub or sink, depending on the construction of your home, we might use imaging devices downstairs and go through an existing opening in the ceiling.

When water comes down into another area downstairs from an overflow, we want to collect the water as quickly as possible. This might require us to drill some holes into the ceiling to save it from collapsing. Our building services department, licensed under California State License Board (CSLB) #892710, helps ensure these tiny holes get patched up flawlessly after we finish mitigating the damage and restoring affected areas.

Walls that trap water release it once we drill holes behind the baseboard's location. We always replace this after we dry the interior with our Injectidry system. We do not want you to have to do any cleaning up after we leave.

Making your property “Like it never even happened” is important to us at SERVPRO of Oxnard. Call us at (805) 984-2347 when water threatens your home with damaging effects. We can stop the deterioration and prevent damage from progressing.
